Devlog #2 – How to Turn a Platformer into a Horror Game?
While brainstorming a new idea and mechanic… it hit me—what if I created something atmospheric? Something that would send shivers down your spine with just simple buttons and silence. That’s how "PRESS ALT + F4" was born. The game kicks you out on its own (without saving your progress). It keeps you on edge for four minutes, throwing in puzzles (which I left as part of the lore—P.S., I used ciphers so players could piece together the what and how). It drops hints that this isn’t just a game… but something alive?
The game was made in 7 hours (one of which was spent on UI/UX design). It’s way better than what I had before, and honestly, the result turned out decent. There’s room to expand the project further.
With that, my 48-hour game jam comes to an end. This was a hardcore experience that will help me develop ASENRUNE, The Ancestors' Shadow, and eventually finish Press Alt + F4 faster and better. Thanks, everyone.
